At the beginning of his monastic life, Abbot Euprepius visited an Elder and said to him: “Elder, how can I gain His Kingdom?” And he said to him: “Wherever you go, do not rush to start talking, before someone asks you to do so.” He was astonished by the simplicity of the words but also their depth, and felt such humbleness by what was said to him replying, “True, I have read many books, and I have never received such a great benefit.”
