Temptations and trials are sent for the following reasons: To some to have
their sins forgiven which they have already committed. To others to prevent
them from sins they are now committing, and to others to prevent them from
sins they intend to do in the future. There are other temptations, finally, which
are sent to bring forth virtue, as in the case of Job.
