This love leads
One does God’s will for fear of punishment. This person is still a total novice.
He does not strive for good itself, but because he fears punishment. Another
does the will of God because he loves God, because he takes great delight in
making his life pleasing to God. He knows the essence of good, he has tasted
what it means to be united with God, and he has true-perfect love. And that
love leads him to perfect fear of losing this union.

This is how we bury her
When our conscience dictates us to do this and we are indifferent, and again
it tells us to do that and we do not do it, but we steadily and unceasingly
trample on it, we bury it, and it can no longer cry out loudly within us from the
weight that covers it. Just as the lamp gives a dull light, so it begins to show
us things more and more dimly, more and more darkly. Just as it is with water
clouded by too much dirt, where one cannot see one's face in it.
