If someone looks at the life of Christ, the life of His disciples, the life of the saints and is encouraged to imitate them –and attempts to imitate Christ through the saints– whether he likes it or not, he will have to fight the good fight, which is a hard fight in deed. He will find himself on a path which seems to be difficult, rutty, endless, and at times, even unbea- rable. On second thought, man may consider going back. And the more he keeps up the fight, the tough- er things get. They get tough, because we make them look so, by wishing to achieve something of spiritual importance.
If we entrust ourselves unto the hands of Christ, He knows how to make us move on, how to lead us to the port of salvation.
When someone has Christ in his heart everything is simple, everything is easy. But how do you have Christ? That should be our concern
