In this world, on this earth, on the one hand, we’re in exile. On the other, however, we’re obliged to lead our whole life doing this or that. Let us do so, our only fear being not to get attached to any- thing. Let everything be part of our course towards the kingdom of God.
So, let us do at once whatever God shows we must do.
“In the world ye shall have tribulation”. This is what life is like. No matter where you go, you always carry yourself along. This is where all the sorrow comes from. Not simply because you’re a sinner and carry death along and the resulting bad state in your soul, but because you’re obstinate and hard headed.
Man will start becoming of God the moment he
feels he has utterly failed.
