The “prisoners” referred to by saint John Clima cus said: “My God, if we need to go insane in order to be saved, then let us go insane”. They didn’t say so as if they railed at God –as if God was mean and needed to drive man insane. What they meant was, that they totally surrendered to God and trusted Him ful- ly without the slightest reservation; “Lord, You lead me to salvation”. Such were the souls Christ dealt with and He trusted them completely. He allowed this or that thing to happen to them, so that their souls got cultivated. They realized their sinfulness, became humble, repented, and then, God graced them. Christ had no fear that by entrusting his grace which is the cure and the health of the soul– He would make the soul take undue advantage of it. If man humbles himself and realizes what it takes to receive the grace, he won’t be deceived by himself or the devil.
