The first governor of Greece, Ioannis Kapodistrias, visited once a school. He talked to the children, and finally wanted to see the teacher’s library. The teacher had many books, but not one. Kapodistrias found this out, became very unhappy with the teacher, because the king of books, the Holy Bible, was missing from his rich library.
– You are an unworthy teacher, he said, because you do not have the book of God in your library.
Really, how many people, who want to educate people and become reformers of society, lack the book of God! The Gospel was not written for the iconostasis or the court. It was written for us to study it, to enlighten our minds , and sanctify our hearts.
From the life of Ioannis Kapodistrias
