The Lord is a living God, who governs all, who
sorts everything out according to his merciful plan,
who loves us, who has taken us under His wing, who
leads us to holiness, to salvation, to eternal life. As
a result, despite being sick, you can be feeling as
good as new. Despite being poor, you can be feeling
as rich as a king. Or, even better, because the Lord is
with you, you feel as if health or wealth are no
concern of yours. So, the soul is free from care
–which indeed is a very big thing– and you cease
being tormented by all trou- blesome situations,
which, one way or another, you come across in life.
But mainly, you prosper spiritually.
On many occasions you may feel that things get so
tough, heavy, or unbearable to the point of saying
that you cannot bear it any longer. However, always
keep in mind that this is your obedience, this is
what has been set by God in His omniscience, and
that, no matter what, you can lift this cross with His
help and carry out this obedience.
