We read in the ascetic texts:
“Whatever work you do, you have to do it in such a way as if you were never going to die, and at the same time, as if you were going to die the next mo ment”.
That’s a paradox; but isn’t the presence and the life of Church a paradox and a constant antinomy in this world? Unless man manages to enter this antin omy and adjust to it, he’ll be outside Christianity.
May your only wish be to love Christ. Do say the prayer “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me” with love for Christ for as many times a day, for as many times in the twenty four hours, as you can remember. Let your soul move lovingly towards Christ and you’ll have the feeling that your whole existence becomes receptive of God’s grace.
