The more God accepts us, watches our desire for salvation, responds to that, recognizes us as His and wants to make us His friends, the more He will let us be tempted. It can’t be otherwise. In this manner you will be assured that God found you, caught you by the hand and guides you to salvation. He guides you, of course, not the way you think, interpret or understand.
If you hold on to your own reasoning, you waste your time and tire yourself in vain.
If someone knowingly keeps his heart unclean and doesn’t keep his house in order, neither cleanses his heart through repentance and through the sacrament of confession, he makes no progress in praying.
